Despite years of growing pains, some market watchers believe the cannabis sector is still nascent. They argue that the next several years could be promising as the industry consolidates, more retail stores are added and consumption rises. According to Tina Normann, a principal at Eight Capital, 2021 looks promising for the industry. She puts the U.S.-focused Horizons U.S. Marijuana ETF (HMUS-https://horizonsetfs.com/etf/HMUS) within “the leadership group” in terms of relative price performance, with HMUS seeing an uptrend since March. She believes that the Canadian sector is down more than the U.S. but is “starting to play catch-up,” citing the Horizons Marijuana Life Sciences ETF (HMMJ-https://horizonsetfs.com/ETF/HMMJ) as her top Canadian choice for liquidity.
