Get Defensive (and Income) with Utility Services ETFs

By
Mark Noble
Pat Sommerville

Recent research shows that the Canadian utilities sector has historically outperformed other sectors during U.S. recessions.¹

With ongoing inflation concerns, rising market volatility, and a potential recession ahead, could Canadian utilities ETFs offer investors a potentially better way to get defensive while earning dividend income?

Watch Mark Noble, Executive Vice-President, ETF Strategy, Horizons ETFs, and Pat Sommerville, Senior Partner, Head of Business Development, Hamilton ETFs as they discuss how utilities investing through ETFs could provide income and defensive positioning through potential market volatility and downturns ahead.

In this webinar you will learn:

• The state of the Canadian utilities services sector
• Historical utility services sector dividend payouts
• How macroeconomic conditions could impact the sector’s outlook
• How investors can get diversified exposure through the Horizons Canadian Utility Services High Dividend Index ETF (UTIL) and the Hamilton ETFs Hamilton Enhanced Utilities ETF (HUTS).
